Homemade P•A•S•T•A!! This was our first

Homemade P•A•S•T•A!!

This was our first time making homemade pasta, and it’s harder than it looks to make with ease.
But we had fun, and the results were worth it. 😋
Each plate was “made to order”, we picked our toppings: spinach, garlic, tomatoes, etc, the sautéed with the noodles. 🍅
Add sauce, and V•O•I•L•A! 🍝

It may seem crazy or intimidating to some that we made our own pasta. But we got here one step at a time— it was intimidating to us until we tried it! 🤩
You’re on the same journey. Maybe you find making anything from scratch a little overwhelming.
But friend, you can do it. ❤️
🍰One step at a time.
🍰One new recipe at a time.
🍰One new technique at a time.

💥It will not always turn out perfectly!

I can think of many meals and new recipes that didn’t turn out right in our kitchen! Like that time the cinnamon made the curry totally thick and slimy! Or when I forgot to add the leavening to scones last week! 😖🤷🏼‍♀️😅

Don’t give up. Don’t feel dumb. 🥳

The key to good cooking, is to E•N•J•O•Y!! 🥗🥰

Not only does food give us nourishment, but just like a song, brings a joy and rhythm into our lives. Cooking that food is much like a dance- one must work on steps and techniques, and in the end, you have a masterpiece to enjoy, even if it’s something as simple as a sandwich.🎶🍑

But food many times brings us frustration.

Breakfast. They say it’s the most important meal

Breakfast. They say it’s the most important meal of the day, and as A. A. Gill well put it:

“Breakfast is everything. The beginning, the first thing. It is the mouthful that is the commitment to a new day, a continuing life.” - A. A. Gill ✨

It sounds that simple too. Make and eat breakfast. But for most of us, it’s not always that simple. It’s more of a race just to get the day started. ☕️

Get dressed! Make coffee, feed the dog, finish up your business notes from last night! Make sure the kiddos finish their chores, kiss your husband as he hurries out the door, unload the dishwasher, and try to fix your hair! We all have our morning to-do differences, but starting the day isn’t always easy, much less, having a nice unhurried breakfast.

Can anyone else RELATE?? 🥲

But don’t be discouraged. Take each day, each breakfast, one at a time. Some may be hurried, some may be relaxed with gingerbread, tea and candle light.

Remember that “His mercies are new every morning.” 🕊☀️

Friday night is our pizza night. Every week. No questions asked. Everyone looks forward to it because: 1. We always know what to expect, and of course 2. who doesn’t love pizza??? 🍕🍕

There is something the about consistency, and looking forward to something delicious and comforting that makes Friday nights special. In fact, if anyone doubts that Friday’s menu may have changed- there’s an outright coup in our house!

At this point, I think you get my message: we love our Friday night pizza- every week.

I think sometimes we strive so hard to keep things fresh, exciting, different, that we may miss those simple consistencies that really bless us.

We feel guilty, as if we don’t do enough. I know that busy moms especially feel this way.

But we do. You do.

So take a deep breath, and go eat some pizza.

Hey busy mama! You've got so much to juggle with kids, work, and all the things! BREAKFAST should be quick and EASY most days, right??

As a busy work from home mom myself, I totally get it, so I thought I'd share this super simple meal idea.

I'm sure you've heard of overnight oats, sometimes called muesli? Well, I always forget to soak them overnight! Too much mental effort.

So I put oats, milk (or oat milk), cinnamon, real maple syrup, and a dash of salt in a bowl when I get up.

I put out a one or more of these:

Chopped 🍎 apples
Sliced banana 🍌
Halved grapes 🍇
Chopped nuts (I love walnuts!)
Raisins or cranberries
Berries 🍓

Sometimes I leave the goodies right on the cutting board so I don't have to wash bowls. 😉

My fave to have with these oats is a slice of bacon 🥓 and a cup of tea.

Easy for the mompreneur or any busy mom!

Oh, and light a candle for breakfast. Why not??

Food doesn’t have to be complicated to be tasty and good for you. For lunch, we had a simple salad with grapes, cucumber, cinnamon pecans, sprouts and a lovely feta dressing- so vibrant and fresh!- along with teriyaki tuna, almond flour crackers, and of course- TEA! Its was easy to make, and even easier to eat!

Tea at Copper Kettle Tea Bar!

We tried 3 soups: Pumpkin Chipotle soup, Tomato Bisque, and Beer Cheese Sausage soup. The Beer Cheese was our fave!

The Feta Dip with fried garlic and pita was really good.

We had a Scottish Whiskey Tea that was superb!

And to finish, an Orange Blossom Scone. It was good but not really a scone. More muffin-ish.

All in all, a great little place to pop by for lunch. We'd like to try their Afternoon Tea or maybe a themed tea like their Hobbit Tea.
